Our next fortnightly challenge is going live today on The Studio Challenges - it is a mood board challenge. This is the layout I created using mainly Shimelle's Glitter Girl range from American Crafts:

This is the mood board, so why don't you have a go and join in the fun! It is open until 25th February.

As I was creating I remembered to record it so I have made a process video if you are interested.

Well that's it for today. Have fun and happy crafting,

January Stick It Down Single Page Reveal

Hello everyone,

Today is my first reveal as a Stick It Down design team member for the single page team. I am on a bit of a kick this year to decrease my stash so most of my page is made up by pieces that are years old.

Anyway here is my page:

This was the sketch we used:
As you can see I flipped the sketch, this was because my sons were looking left and I usually like for the people on my page to be looking into the page. I tried to keep the top left hand corner empty but I just couldn't.

Well that's it for today, until next time take care and happy crafting.

The First Reveal for 2018 at The Studio Challenges.

Hello everyone,

Today the next fortnightly challenge is going live at The Studio Challenges and all you have to do is use snowflakes, easier said than done when you live in Western Australia where it never snows! However, I am planning a trip to England in 2019 so I created a page about my upcoming visit and used a photo taken when I was last there (2013).

Here it is:

I was cutting out the alphabet for my sister-in-law and when I saw the negative of the E I suddenly knew what my page was going to be about. In the background I have sprayed some Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays in the colours of Scintillating Silver, Silent Night Silver and Frosted Forget-Me-Nots. I quickly dab up the excess colour after spraying so that the colour was rather muted in the background. I then embossed some snowflake stamps and the paper snowflakes I had cut with my Silhouette machine. I dug into my stash and found some very old snowflake brads from Making Memories - I can't begin to tell you how old they are! I finished it off with some enamel dots, little word stickers from Tim Holtz and some punched snowflakes out of silver paper.

Well that's it for my snowflake page, I hope you enjoy it and it helps spark some inspiration. Please check out the other pages by the design team over on The Studio Challenges blog.

Take care and happy crafting,
Helen xx

Scraplift Saturday Time

Hello everyone,

Wow one week in already for 2018, however, as I'm on school holidays time does go fast! On Saturday my latest video for The Crafty Maven Getaway went live, it was a scraplift layout. This is what I created:

I scraplifted a fairly recent layout created by Kelly Barron, it was one of her design team pieces for Citrus Twist Kits.

What did I scraplift? Well I used the idea of a central square, however, mine has been created by patterned paper whilst Kelly used paint. I also incorporated the paper strips at the top and bottom of the layout, plus, I used paper and embellishments that came from Pink Paislee/Paige Evans' Turn The Page collection like the flower diecuts in Kelly's kit.

Here is the video if you wish to watch the process.

Well that's it for today I will be back later in the week with some other design team pieces albeit for other teams.

Take care and happy crafting,
Helen xx

Scrapping Fun

Hello everyone,

Happy New Year to you all, may 2018 be all that you want and more! I know I am actually going to work towards some goals this year, most unusual for me but I'm quite determined.

I had a great week in between Christmas and New Years Eve and to top it off I spent 3 days with my scrapping sisters and had lots of fun, plus I managed to create a layout or two. I even did a double page spread, something I haven't done for quite some time.

This first layout is of some of my work friends and I at our Christmas lunch.

Next layout is my double layout!! These photos were taken in 2013 and I've only just gotten around to scrapbooking them. My background was inspired by my classes that I took with Donna Downey.

My final layout is a self reflection layout, if I could talk to my younger self what would I tell her to do or not to do. I used an older collection from 2012, pretty papers that I have been hoarding for some time.

Well that's it for now. Here's to a craft filled 2018.
Take care,
Helen xx
